Na Blychu – the name comes from “blychowanie”, the bleaching of linen. The flat terrain and clean water were an excellent place for all the inhabitants to do their washing, and the strong sunshine was ideal for drying and “blychowanie” – bleaching. (Information: Otylia Kania). Mrs Rózalka Laksikowa – Rozalia Kornek, Otylia’s mother – still in the 1950s took her washboard (Waschbret) and went out to the Blych to do the laundry. The name is still used today.
Na Blychu is the area bounded on the west by ul. Wiejska and on the east by the village lake (jezioro Wiejskie) and the Krzipop Modrzewa, stretching from the Chudala property in the south to the Malik property in the north. Today on the Blych we have beautiful gardens, mostly vegetable gardens. We will no longer see any washing done on a washboard. Because growing vegetables is laborious, one can buy them more cheaply at the market stall; we also see a small fish pond, beautiful flowers, and there is no lack of ornamental trees.
